A Not So Triumphant Return

I started this gemlog about five years ago. After creating a burst of content towards the end of 2021, I completely stopped writing here.

I guess I was not alone. I read somewhere that activity on Gemini peaked in 2021 and has steadily declined since then. I am not sure if that is entirely true, but I can understand why that might have happened. At least to some extent, the pandemic drove a lot of people to Gemini and so when it started fading, many of those people left and new people stopped showing up.

Now I am back, writing my first post in a very long time. In some ways, the world seems to be in a even worse situation at the moment. The combination of the rise of fascism and tech bro oligarchy along with war, extreme climate events and the AI apocalypse makes for a depressing outlook.

It is really scary to think that I might have already lived through the best times of my life and everything is just downhill from here. I am trying to find some element of control and may be sharing my thoughts to the Smolweb would help me with that.

Despite (re)starting on this downbeat note, I hope I will be able to continue posting here on a somewhat regular basis. If nothing else, I would just like to get better at writing.
